It is believed that by performing this ritual children abundantly receive the blessings of Mata Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge.  While Previous nights students keep their study materials and musical instruments in front of Saraswathi to get a blessing in their studies. On the Vijayadashami day students take out the books from Puja and have to read a little bit, to get the blessing of the Goddess of Education in their studies and Music for the upcoming days.
