New Year- In ancient time New Year celebrated on 1st of
March Month as per the Roman calendar, which was only having 10 months. But as per Gregorian
Calendar there are 12 months in a year and January 1st is considered
as New Year and the whole world accepted and started following till the date
where we are existing.
People make the New Year extraordinary by their
own way of celebrations and welcome the Upcoming New Year. Midnight of the 31st
Night will start the celebration. From the day after the Christmas Celebrations, for
New Year celebrations people involved in the preparation well planned in advance
by collecting the required stuff like decorations, gifts, clothes, chocolates,

Dr. Sampurnanand Jayanthi-Dr. Sampurnanand was an eminant scholar and teacher of Sanskrit Language and Astronomy., he was also famous for his Indian freedom fights. He was born on January 1, 1891 in Varanasi, India.
He was UP Chief Minister in the year 1954
from 28 December to 7 December 1960. His birth Anniversary celebrated as Dr.
Sampurnanand Jayanti every year on January 1. When he was CM, he promoted the Hindi Language. Also initiated the ban on cow slaughter.

Bikaner Camel Festival Day- Bikaner Camel Festival is a Fair or Trade Festival
celebrated in Bikaner, a city in the northwest of the Rajasthan State, India.
Camel festivals held to express the culture and heritage of the desert land of
Rajasthan. Camel is known as Ship of the Desert in Rajasthan. Every year 11-12
January Bikaner Camel Festival celebrates.
In ancient times Camel was the only livelihood of
the State, as they entirely dependent on camels. Camels consider as The royalty of Rajasthan. Bikaner Camel Festival organized by Govt. of Rajasthan
tourism development department. The main intention of this festival is to promote
Rajasthan tourism and Rajasthan culture.
Lohri Festival- Lohri Festival is a well-known winter folk festival celebrated in Punjab. It is celebrated on 13 January every year. Sun's movement to the northern hemisphere is considered by Sikhs and Punjabi Hindus as auspicious and celebrates the Lohri festival which is celebrated on the previous night of Makar Sankranthi. Lohri festival considered the end of the winter.
Lohri the festival celebrated with a bonfire and people sing and dance around the fire, by

Pongal Festival- Pongal festival is one of the famous Hindu Harvest festivals celebrated in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry in India. This festival celebrates on 14 January – 17 January every year, dedicated to the Sun (Surya) God.
It is four days celebration starting on the holiest month as per the Tamil Hindu calendar. The word "Pongal" means in Tamil "Boil". Sugarcane, rice, turmeric, etc are harvested at this time, and they prepare Pongal dish with these ingredients to worship the Sun, the God of light. Also use Ghee, nuts, coconut milk, and jaggery to prepare Pongal Dish. In a new clay pot on open-air direct under sunlight, they cook Pongal. It is considered as Pongal brings Prosperity, Peace, and happiness in the family throughout the year.
There are three days of Pongal called Bhogi
Pongal, Surya Pongal, and Maatu Pongal.
Makara Sankranthi- Makar Sankranti is celebrated on Jan 14 annually in several states in India. It is the beginning of a new harvest season. Makar Sankranthi knowing by various names in different states, such as ''Maghe Sankranthi'' in Nepal, ''Magh Bihu'' in Assam, ''Maghi'' in Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, ''Thai Pongal'' in Tamil Nadu, ''Ghughuti'' in Uttarakhand, and ''Makara Sankranthi'' in Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, ''Pedda Pandaga'' in Andhra Pradesh, ''Poush Sankranti'' in West Bengal and ''Khichdi Sankranthi'' in Uttar Pradesh.
Makar Sankranthi festival observed with many festivities in which people involved with colourful decorations, singing, melas, dances, kite flying, bonfires, and feasts. Devotees take a divine bath in sacred rivers or lakes to show gratitude to Sun God. This festival mainly devoted to the Sun, the God of Light. Considers Makar Sankranthi, the journey of Sun begins from northward, this festival named Uttarayan.
Joydev Kenduli Mela-Jayadev
Kenduli is a small village in the state of West Bengal, where the Great Poet,
Jayadeva born. Jayadeva was believed to be the Court Poet of Raja Lakshman Sen,
in the 12-13 century. Jayadev Kenduli was developed as a religious center due to
the numerous historical importance during the Mughal Era.
In the belief of Jaydev's birthplace on the bank of the river Ajoy, an annual fair
organized there in his memory. Every year on the occasion of Makar Sankranthi
from January 14 to 16 Jayadev Kenduli Baul Mela conducts. Bauls are a group of the mystic from Bengal, who travel across the land, They are identified
easily by their distinctive attire and musical instruments.
Kerala Village Fair- Kerala Village Fair is celebrated near the
Kovalam Beach and Ernakulam’s Marine Beach in Kerala State in India annually on
Jan 15. In 2021 date yet to be confirmed. At this Fair, you can experience the
Traditional Kerala Houses (Nalukettu) decorated with ancient paintings, swords, and fancy night lightings. For the travelers, it is an overwhelming feeling of
reaching to the ancient Kerala Period. Tourists get a warm welcome in a traditional
way of decorated pookalam (Flower Carpet) and with the tender coconut drinks.
