This is a historic day for India, because on this day Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa, who took charge as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on 15 January 1949. General Sir Francis Butcher was the last British Commander-in-Chief of India at that time. 

Indian Army Celebrate Army Day in a grand way with Parades and various military shows in New Delhi-the capital of India as well as in headquarters. In 2021 we are getting ready to celebrate the 73rd Army Day on January 15. On this day Gallantry Awards and Sena Medals are awarded.
