Chhath Puja- Chhath Festival is a Primitive Hindu Vedic Festival celebrated in the State of Bihar-Jharkhand, India. Also celebrated in Uttar Pradesh, some regions of Nepal too. Chhath Puja significantly dedicated to the Sun and Shashthi Devi ( also known as Chhathi Maiyya). This festival held in order to thank God for the prosperous and healthy life they gave us and to request for certain wishes, believed that it will be fulfilled 100 percent.
It is believed that the Usha and Pratyusha, known as Sun’s wife. In the morning first, the ray of the Sun, considers as Usha, and the last ray of the sun, which is considered as Pratyusha are worshipped and offer prayers and fruits and some sort of puja items. The woman who is supposed to become the chhathi mayya takes a holy bath, fasting and abstain from drinking water do prayers, and do offering to both rays of the Sun. These all happen near the river banks by facing the Rising Sun and Setting Sun.
